Bertemu: from trash to treasure with tradition

Friends of mine in Indonesia started a grass root upcycling project called Bertemu with glass, jute, cloth, traditional woven fabric, leather, and more.
Maria Bianca Vega and her husband Prananda K. Pudra discoverd their love for traditional Indonesian textiles like handwoven Ikat, search for sources of used materials, textils as well as traditional craftspeople and weavers to produce upcycling products for ethical travellers.

Bertemu: Indonesian, translated „to meet“ or „crossing“

Bertemu produces wallets, bags and more. Used materials, handwoven ikat and upcycling process makes each piece unique.

Bertemu is part of a new generation of grass root projects in Bali and all Indonesia, newtorking in events like „People who care“ in Ubud. Bali-based locations can invite Bertemu for showcasing their project and I hope international fair trade shops like GEPA in Germany will catch on.
